Power mind lesson on Kicking Doors – Report Card Syndrome
Yesterday, Tuesday the 27th of October 2015, I experienced great joy teaching Report Card Syndrome on Kicking Doors. Kicking Doors hosted by Sbusiso Leope is an entrepreneur success focused television programme which airs every Tuesday night (20:30 South Africa time) on CNBC Africa.
I’d been asked to present a 5 minute success teaching on what the producers of the show called The Mind Clinic. Given that I’ve worked with so many people in different walks of life I decided to teach Report Card Syndrome on Kicking Doors. This I believe is one of the most powerful mind lessons ever. It gives you a practical way how, when under extreme pressure and not getting the results you desire, to stop yourself from continually thinking in to the results you don’t want.
Every entrepreneur and employee is under pressure
So many people, even CEOs who I’ve worked, still do this. They’re locked in to what I call Report Card Syndrome because they don’t know better. They’re always focused on the results and when the results are sub-par, they focus even more on them, needlessly locking themselves in to a most unproductive and downright useless, thought circuit.
If you are posting results which you don’t want, these very results when focused on will cause you to experience bad, negative and dissatisfied feelings. That’s where the root of the problem lies. Those who don’t understand how the mind works, won’t know how to escape this vicious cycle. As such they will get pulled down in to it, sucked down even further in to the depths of despair. It doesn’t have to be this way, there is a better way, and now you’re going to be taught THE NEW WAY™. Everything which Suzanne and I teach our clients, shows them speedy ways to more life and business success.
What must you always know and remember?
What I want you to always know and remember is that success begins in the six inches between your ears. So, if you’re not enjoying the success you desire then the root cause of this lies between your ears – that’s right, it lies within your contaminated thinking process. Examine the diagram below. This is a powerful representation of how your (and every other person for that matter) thinking-feeling-doing cycle works.
What the above transformational thinking diagram teaches you is that your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings drive your actions and your actions give you your results. That’s how simple it is. Therefore if you’re not posting the results you want it’s because your thoughts are yet developed enough to deliver them to you.
Expressed another way, you haven’t yet cracked the success code and the only way to do this, is to be keep experimenting.
That’s why it took Thomas Edison around 10,000 attempts to develop the light bulb which we all use today. Did he succeed with his very first go? No he did not. Did he allow himself to become so downhearted that he gave up and walked away from his dream to light up the world? No he did not. What did he do? He kept on experimenting, knowing that each “failure” was just another vital learning which he needed to know and experience on his journey to success – to lighting up the world.
What do most people do when under pressure?
Here’s what most people do when they get results (their “business report card” if you will) which they don’t want. They focus all their attention, every creative fibre of their being, every brain cell, on the report card, on the bad results.
Because they are seeing and experiencing an undesired outcome, they get down on themselves. They think negative, fear-filled, worried, thoughts and anxiety sets in. This negative thinking activity will only give them more of the same – more the undesired outcomes.
Given that your every thought is an energy fuelled packet, the more you think about and focus on what you don’t want, the more power you’re adding to it. You’re actively fuelling your failure, digging your hole deeper and deeper until you can’t see daylight anymore. You’re taking yourself down and nobody other than you is doing this – you’re doing it to yourself.
Now, if you want to shift yourself from this devastating, unproductive thought circuit, in to a powerful, creative thought circuit, here’s how you do it:
Go back to basics
Stop thinking yourself deeper in to the disaster you’re experiencing and go back to basics. Remind (remember why you started this journey) and “re-mind” (change your thinking) yourself. That’s why in the above teaching diagram you’ll see “What You Want” inserted between results and thinking. When it’s all going horribly wrong, you avoid the pitfall trap of continued incorrect thought, by going back to what you wanted. Remembering this and why you’re doing this, will shift your thoughts and therefore your energy, frequency and vibration in to a positive creative state. This is what Edison did after each failure and that’s why he went down in history. So can you!
